About this site

In 2011, Connecticut adopted the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) test in order to assess student learning. Today, students in grades 3 through 8 take the SBAC during the school year so that parents, teachers, principals, and lawmakers can see how well Connecticut’s students are performing in English Language Arts and math.

However, new tests can be confusing and overwhelming. If you are a parent who feels invested in the education of your child and would like to learn more about the SBAC, this site is for you. Feel free to use the navigation menu on the left side of this site in order to toggle between various topics and frequently asked questions surrounding Connecticut’s new standardized test.
